American
Dance Studio assistant teacher program helps to ensure classes
are successful. Assistant teachers are chosen because they are
qualified dancers, reliable and possess a pleasant personality.
There are several reasons we have this program in place.
Assistant
teachers make the classes consistent. In the absence of a
teacher, the assistant is a familiar face to the students, which
can be a tremendous help to the substitute by knowing the
student’s names, temperament and what the class traditionally
does.
They keep
the class orderly and well paced. The teacher is busy teaching
so she does not have time to stop and tie shoes or assist with
the potty. The assistants are there to ensure that the teacher
concentrates on dance activities only.
Assistants
keep the class quiet. When the teacher is busy explaining a
step, the assistant keeps the other students quiet.
Assistants
help put the children at ease. They are the students’ friend.
They are old enough to help, yet young enough they can relate to
each student.
Assistants can give individual attention. The teacher can not be
everywhere at once, and spending too much time with one
individual would require the teacher to ignore the rest of the
class. So if a student is having trouble, the assistant can take
the child off to the side and help them.
